This billet aluminium rear main seal housing replaces the failure-prone stamped steel factory part (OE 06A 103 171A) on Volkswagen and Audi 1.8T and 2.0T FSI EA113 engines, found in cars such as the Mk5 Golf GTI, Mk6 Golf R, 8P A3 and S3, 8J TT and TTS and B7 A4. 034Motorsport explains that the factory seal's PTFE lip can let oil leak between the engine and gearbox over time, and a failed seal can also cause crankcase pressure problems and even misfires. The housing is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminium, gloss black anodised and supplied with an OEM Elring seal with an integral tension spring already fitted, plus an installation tool and new grade 8.8 hardware. A sealant groove and a screwdriver gap for future removal are machined in, and engines with the EA888 need the separate 034 TSI rear main seal instead.
