The APR Boost Tap provides a boost and vacuum reference source for Volkswagen and Audi MQB cars with the EA888 Gen 3 1.8T or 2.0T engine. APR says taking the boost signal from the factory T-MAP sensor gave inconsistent intake air temperature readings and could cost power, so its engineers developed another method. With the supplied punch tool, a boost and vacuum reference port in the factory intake manifold is opened up while the engine is warm, and the billet aluminium tap seals to it with two Viton o-rings. The kit also includes a T-fitting for extra reference points, a brass restrictor pill that cures gauge buzz with mechanical boost gauges, and just under 100 inches of 200 PSI hose supplied with ear clamps in an OEM style and black cable ties.
