Japanese brake specialist DIXCEL makes discs for everything from daily driving to endurance racing, and this rear pair suits the Mini Hatch John Cooper Works. It comes in four DIXCEL disc types: PD Type (a plain disc made to the OE specification), SD Type (a six-slit disc for extra bite), FP Type (DIXCEL's top-spec plain disc, heat-treated with 20% more carbon) and FS Type (the six-slit version of the FP), all measuring 280 x 10mm. Every DIXCEL disc is balance-checked and corrected by machining, as car makers do, and carries an anti-corrosion coating chosen for the application.

  • PD Type: plain disc made to the original equipment specification, machined to tight tolerances to cut noise and vibration
  • SD Type: six-slit disc that DIXCEL says gives up to 20% more braking performance than a plain disc in simulated testing, with the slits offset between faces to suppress judder
  • FP Type: DIXCEL's top plain disc, heat-treated and with 20% more carbon than its standard mix for crack and distortion resistance, developed in endurance racing
  • FS Type: six-slit version of the FP, in the same heat-treated high-carbon iron for extra bite under hard use
