The ARM Motorsports MK7 GTI / Golf R FMIC Kit is a true front mount intercooler that places the core in front of the radiator stack, in the coolest ambient air, on the Mk7 GTI and Golf R. It uses a bar and plate core measuring 22 x 9 x 3.25 inches (644 cubic inches) with a fin density of 20 fins per inch, which ARM rates for up to 700hp and describes as only 28% larger than the 493 cubic inch OEM unit. ARM quotes gains of up to 24whp and 26wtq and says its project GTI's intake air temperature stayed 16 degrees above ambient in a 2nd to 5th gear pull, against a 61 degree rise with the OEM intercooler on a slightly warmer day. The kit is bolt-on with Mk7-specific mounting brackets that need no cutting or drilling of the crash bar, and ARM says installation takes about 2-3 hours.
