These Paragon PPS813 pad shims are made from Grade 5 titanium (6AL-4V / ASTM B348) and are supplied as a set of four, enough for one axle. They sit between the brake pads and the calipers as a thermal barrier, because titanium has a much lower thermal conductivity than the usual pad and caliper materials. Paragon says this reduces heat transfer from the pads to the calipers and brake fluid, which helps lower operating temperatures and cut the risk of fluid overheating and brake fade on track. The shims suit AP Racing CP5846, CP5847, CP6070, CP6071, CP6270 and CP6271 calipers, Alcon B-Type, CRB343 and CRB332 calipers, and the rear of the Ginetta G55 GT4.
