Yokohama's Advan Neova AD09 sits in the extreme performance summer category and succeeds the Advan Neova AD08R, using technology carried over from its motorsport programmes. An asymmetric tread puts large continuous blocks on the outer shoulder for dry cornering grip and steering response, while wide multi-angled grooves on the inner side clear water to resist hydroplaning. The high-silica compound is built to stay consistent as temperatures rise, and the casing uses two wide steel belts, a two-ply polyester carcass with a high turn-up and two nylon reinforcement plies for a rigid sidewall and stable tread. Yokohama intends it for warm-weather road driving, club-sport days and time attack, preferably on a separate set of wheels reserved for the track, and advises against near-freezing temperatures, snow or ice.
