This catch can kit replaces the factory PCV breather hose on the EA839 2.9 TFSI twin-turbo V6 in the B9 Audi RS4 and RS5 with a re-engineered breather hose and a high-capacity, baffled billet aluminium catch can. 034Motorsport explains that the factory hose relies on two internal check valves to switch between ventilation paths, and that these valves are prone to early failure, after which crankcase pressure is no longer regulated and hot oil can escape, risking serious engine damage and fire. The catch can traps crankcase oil before it reaches the turbo inlet and charge air system, adding a layer of protection over a breather hose replacement alone.
