This gas strut replaces the factory bonnet prop rod on the Mk8 Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf R, and 034Motorsport lists it as the Gas Hood Strut. 034Motorsport sized the length and pressure for the Mk8 bonnet and says it opens and closes with the right resistance. The stainless steel ball-end adapter is CNC machined and threads onto the stud on the existing bonnet latch bracket, so fitting is simple and fully reversible.
